Matt's on a Roll

Travis Frank

pichers 004.jpgToday the conditions were great, and the fish responded just how they should.  We started out by seeing fish on nearly every spot we went to with several trophy caliber fish in the 50" range being very aggressive.  The only fish hauled into the boat on this outing was a healthy 44" caught by Matt.  He's definitely got this Muskie fishing thing going the last two trips out.  The morning ended by seeing somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 -12 ski's with nearly all of them swiping at our baits and coming up just a little bit short (no lazy follows today).  If I had Matt's luck on this day, we probably would have pictures of about 5 more fish, but it was just one of those days for me where the hook just would not find the right spot in the fish's mouth to keep it hooked.  At one point I had 3 fish in the 50" class either on, or explode on my topwater presentation within 10 casts of each other, and absolutely none of them found their way into the boat.  That's how it goes with muskie fishing though, and probably what keeps me coming back day after day for more intense explosions, or what we now call "dropping a water buffalo from a helicopter!"  Thanks again for reminding me how to land the toothy critters Matt.  Fish on!!!

Fishin With .COM!!!!

Travis Frank

fuckin fish pictures 018.jpgWell after a few days of fishin for everything but muskies, I decided it was time to get the monsters back in the boat and leave the little fish alone.  My good friend and fellow guide Matt and myself decided to hit the water on this absolutely gorgeous Monday morning.  After nearly 3 hours of daylight passing before we finally got on the lake, we took our chance with the not so good conditions, and well as you can see, it paid off huge for Matt.  We fished a total of 5 spots, seeing a fish on every spot but one.  It was only a mere 15 minutes between when he lost a fish that was leaping boatside before he landed this beauty at 49".   The sad part is that the one that shook the hook was almost identical in size, which would have made for one heck of a great 1 1/2 hour trip on the water.  Nonetheless it was fun for me to watch this well known bass fisherman tangle with one of my pet toothy critters, and to see the reaction it got.  Another awesome morning of Tonka muskies courtesy of this full moon period taking place right now.  The bite is definitely on, and I will be updating often, so keep checking to see all the monsters that keep coming in, and feel free to contact me if this awesome bite may just interest you a little bit.  Thanks .Com, Fishon!!

2nd Annual "Take A Boatload Of Girls Fishing Day"

Travis Frank

pichers 011.jpgSunday was the 2nd annual take a boatload of girls fishing day, so we did just that.  pichers 007.jpg  With high hopes from the great success last year, these girls couldn't wait to get their lines in the water and see what would bite on it.  I was joined by Becky, Phyliss, Gina, Jitla, Amanda and Heidi.  With the boat loaded to the max, we were somewhat limited to what we could fish for, which brought out the jigs and leeches.  The sunfish were eager to take a hold and gave us plenty of action.  pichers 010.jpg  Although the weather wasn't the best for Walleyes, we did try a great spot of mine, and Gina (the fishing pro) managed to land a nice one.  All in all, the weather was amazing, the fish were biting and it was yet another great time on the water.   Thanks for all the tangled lines and hectic running around.  pichers 005.jpg  Can't wait to do it again next year!!!

Bass'n on Waconia

Travis Frank

fuckin fish pictures 005.jpgSaturday morning brought us out onto Lake Waconia for a friendly bass tournament with a bunch of buddies.  It is the 2nd annual tournament for friends of ours, which decided that they didn't feel the need to show up for their own event.  This proved to be their own loss because the bite was going and many large bass were brought in by all the boats including these two beauties that Mike landed.  It was a great day on the water for Mike, Tara and Myself.    We didn't  win, but in this event it is all about the fun we have competing in the friendly outing.  The only downside for us on this day was Tara's inability to land the big one.     fuckin fish pictures 004.jpgAs you can see she definitely was giving it her all, but the fish just didn't want to cooperate.  Next time fishies!!!

The Heat Is Gone...FINALLY!!!

Travis Frank

fuckin fish pictures 002.jpgWell it's about time something changed with the horrible weather we were having.  Fishing has been impossible the last week with temps climbing into the upper 90's and into the 100's.  Last night a storm came through dropping the temps considerably and allowing for fishing to take place once again.  Water temperatures that had been at 86 - 87 degrees have now cooled to the lower 80's which is still to warm, but better than what it was a day ago.  In my opinion, this extremely warm water is having a large impact on how the fish are behaving, with a lot of fish being far less aggressive than normal for the cloudy and windy conditions that just came through.  Not only are the fish behaving weird, once you do catch one, you have to be quick and release the fish immediately to ensure survival.  When water becomes this warm it is extremely important for fish of all species to get back to cooler water fast because survival rate is terrible at such high degrees.

Today we fished 4 spots in our short outing.  We saw 13 Muskies, boated one 42" on a Topwater glide bait, and had 3 other extremely close calls.  Any day you land a muskie is a good day.  Until next time, Good Luck, and Fish On!!
