Travis Frank's Story
From the time he was big enough to carry a tackle box, Travis Frank had a fishing addiction running through his veins. He grew up digging worms and fishing alongside his dad, grandfather and his neighbor. At first, his addiction was to catch whatever would bite. Over time, he wanted more. Travis started competing in local club fishing tournaments at the age of 15. Fishing consumed his life.
Then came the muskie bug. What started as a quest to land the fish of 10,000 casts, turned into Travis' start in the guiding business. At the age of 16, he caught his first muskie. It took 6 months of dedicated fishing to accomplish his catch, but that muskie opened his eyes to a new way of fishing - he found a new pattern. Soon, he was catching muskies every time out. 5 or more at a time. Word spread of his luck, and soon anglers offered to pay for their chance at a trophy. That was all the motivation he needed to start a guide service
Through high school and into college, Travis grew his guide business. Soon, it was a full-time operation. Travis worked hard to understand all fish species so that he could be a better teacher. Though he always enjoyed catching fish, he found that it was far more rewarding to watch others land the largest trophy of their life. Seeing the look on their face when the fish came in the boat made guiding extremely rewarding. A passion to help others enjoy the best fishing possible has brought Travis to where he is today. This passion continues to drive him to always find the next hot spot and to make every trip as enjoyable as possible for the clients he guides.
Eventually Trophy Encounters Guide Service lead Travis into new avenues. In 2008 Travis took a position working for Ron Schara Productions - a company that produces outdoor television. Today he mixes his guiding business with a full-time career as a television host & producer. Travis now hosts & produces many local and national television programs. You can catch him on the air as the host of Due North Outdoors, The Flush, Rooster Tales and a regular reporter for Minnesota Bound. Travis is a regular guest on KFANS "Fan Outdoors." Travis also hosts an upland bird hunting podcast, writes articles for many outdoor publications, and enjoys speaking for groups on life in the outdoors. He also enjoys the hobby of outdoor photography.
