I found it kind of funny that in your last message you said "It would be kind of weird to be jigging out of a boat on the ice" or something like that..... Anyway, I'd like to let you know that fishing out of a boat on the ice was exactly what I did!! It's been a tradition for me the past three years to hit the ice for the first time over Thanksgiving weekend. This year was a little crazier than most. I did endup stairing at the vexy for a couple days, but it was from a boat jigging through an 8" hole. I pushed a boat out in front of me just in case there was a mishap. I ended up on 1" of good clear ice about 200yds. out. However, while sitting on the bucket, I noticed water gathering around me. I figured, what the heck, I have a boat sitting here why not use it. So I did..... I tell you what though, it sure felt good to catch my first bull of the year through the ice.
Good luck this winter. We may see you on the "Big Pond"
My family was trying to get a picture from the house, but were not able to zoom in close enough. Also, there was a car at the boat ramp that sat there for a while. I was wondering if my picture was going to be in a newspaper somewhere up by Detroit Lakes??
