2010 Early Goose Roll Call
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 09:39PM
As August sets in there is only one thing on my mind....early goose season! I'll set the stage and introduce some of the plans and the "players" for the season. The early goose season in North Dakota opens on August 15th and the limit is 5 birds a man, setting the stage for a crazy amount of birds. I will be posting almost on a daily basis when the season hits, so look out!

Josh Sterner
Now Josh happens to be one of "the" best bird hunters I have had the opportunity to hunt with. During the last few years we have hooked up on some great waterfowl hunts in the field and on the water. He is a front runner in this contest
Blake "Hardcore" Johnson
Now how do you think Blake got his nickname? Well, if you have had the chance to meet him then you know what I am talking about! Blake is the last asleep and the first awake, bringing the fun to the hunt. He is a crack shot (if you let him warm up) and is ALMOST a wizard behind the duck call. On top of his impressive resume, he is the designated flagman. The phrase "muffin the D" is hardcore's way of describing his impeccable flag handling skills.
Will "Red" Clayton
The war paint makes the man. Last year was Willy's introduction to waterfowling in ND and he took everything in stride. Famous for smashing birds and looking good doing it.
Andy Lien
Andy was also a ND virgin and he too had everything to a T by the season's end. You can find him cruising around the highways and gravel roads in his little honda civic searching for the flocks of big ganders.
Kyle Seehusen
Definitely one of the most enthusiastic hunters I have ever came across! Like the others he is was a newbie and wanted to suck up all the info he could. As I have heard from Josh's texting sessions with Kyle, he is like a kid in a candy store on Christmas day.
Tyler Mathison
Tyler hasn't hunted with us before, but he knows his stuff and can run a call like no ones business. Tyler lives in the Fargo-Moorhead area and will be our eyes and ears when we are still waiting it out in the land of 10,000 lakes.
Travis Genz
Travis was able to get up to ND for a weekend which was all it took, he is now going up to NDSU and majoring in waterfowling, but don't tell his mother. He was part of the infamous "'09 spoonie shoot" and I wouldn't expect anything less from him.
Special Guests:
I love the chance at chasing fowl with anybody who shares the passion with me and here are some faces that will be making a stop in the prairie pothole region.
Andrew Dath & Crew
Andrew hails from the great white north, Calgary, Alberta. This is the first time we will be hunting together, but the results should be epic. Andrew is pro-staffer for Dave Smith Decoy, Foiles calls, and SportDog to name a few. He has also put his time in on the contest stage and is one heck of a caller. He and his crew will be traveling from Calgary to Oregon where he will be picking up close to 200 custom made decoys and then will be joining us for the opener.
Mike Max
Mike will also be joining us for a few hunts during the start of the season. The word is that he is a true waterfowl junkie and we will be in full gear trying to meet his addiction. A camera man might also be thrown into the mix for his show "Life to the Max" on WCCO.
If anyone wants to join in on the 2010 Waterfowl season don't hesitate to ask!
The fishing isn't done either for the summer, Josh and I were out last night and put some slime into the boat. From the Dog Days.....Keep Livin' the Dream!
